Beehive Baby Afghan

Beehive Baby Afghan
In my last blog post I shared a FREE cute little bumble bee applique pattern that I designed. I used it to create the little bumble bees that adorn this Beehive Baby Afghan. The hexagon pattern that I used to create this project came from Whistle and Ivy. I just changed colors midway through the pattern to create a two-toned hexagon. The little bumble bee hat is a standard double crochet newborn hat, also switching between yellow & black colors. The entire project was inspired by Crafty Cori's Buzzy Bee Baby Blanket.

Five Little Ducks

If you've found this page, then chances are you purchased a set of my "Five Little Ducks" crochet finger puppets. (shown below) Aren't they just adorable!?! I think so!

I suggest using these adorable finger puppets to enhance a reading of a "Five Little Ducks" book. Or, I've created a free printable of the lyrics that you can use as a sing-a-long fun activity with these puppets for your convenience!

Feel free to send me a picture of you and your youngsters enjoying your set and I'll try to add it here!

Enjoy!

Time flies....

Oh my goodness!  I can't believe it's been this long since I last posted on here.  Where, oh where, has the time gone?  Another conference has come and gone and I didn't even think to post about it.  I have been very busy this last year!

Here is a picture from this years conference that I attended:

My husband's cousin and his wife had a new addition to their family just before Halloween.  Another boy!  His big brother was going to be Mario for Halloween, so they asked me to make this Yoshi hat for their little guy:

I made leg warmers (using this pattern by Chelsie Brady) for my daughter to wear to & from dance class so her little legs won't freeze.  Hers are gray with pink hearts though.  I'll have to take a picture to share.

I've made numerous other things this year as well.  My daughter had me making all of the Disney princess characters with the Rainbow Loom.  Then my middle son decided to really test my skills and had me created my own pattern of his favorite Minecraft Youtubers, Stampy Longhead & iballistic Squid.  I'll have to maybe post a tutorial on how to make those-- if I ever get around to filming them.  A new thing that I've been tinkering with in the past year is plastic canvas crafts.  I like making them but those test my patience a little more than crocheting.  As always, feel free to share what you're creating on my Facebook page HERE.

Happy Friday!

Tis the Season!

Last weekend I was selected to be an exihibitor at the Professional Childcare Development Conference for Early Childhood Educators at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.  I thouroughly enjoyed the experience and the wonderful people that I was able to meet.  This weekend I participated in a local craft show and I will participate in more over the next month.  Here are a few of the pictures from my trip and a few of the items I've made for the shows.

This was my booth at the conference.
I really wanted to get more creative with it but I just ran out of time.

A mug or cup cozy.  So your coffee can burn your mouth and not your hands.  :)

 A franken-mug cozy.

My first attempt at the Grinch.

Baby Santa suit

 Holiday hat

 Yee-haw!

The view of the lake from the conference area at the resort at Osage Beach.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  It was so pretty with the leaves starting to change to fall colors.

One of my littlest customers in my teddy hat.

 Creeper!

Minion!

I was able to sit in on one of the workshops from the conference.  Very informative and very fun!

Soldier's Guardian Pocket Angel Pattern

I am part of the Letter Writing Team (LTW) with Soldier's Angels. Since beginning this journey I've wanted to include something meaningful in the letters but needed to come up with something that was also small and easy to include in the envelopes. After some brainstorming I came up with the following; a compilation of the idea behind a prayer shawl and the idea behind the popular guardian angel pins.

I found an angel pattern online (I can't remember where now or I'd link back to it) and after some modifications I came up with this crochet pattern for a small 'guardian angel' -- one that can be easily tucked away in a pocket, hat, or boot, etc. As I make each angel, I pray for the soldier that will be receiving that particular one. As you can see below, I attach it to a "Thank You" card.

Here is the card with the angel attached:
